UNEDITED FILM REPORT: Astronaut Grissom walks to and enters MASTIF. Instrument panel of procedures trainer; Grissom operates controls and talks on headset. Grissom enter ALFA trainer and straps in; Grissom operates controls as trainer maneuvers. Grissom dons under garmet and spacesuit, boots, helmet and gloves. Grissom, in flight suit, leaves buildings, walks to F-106 jet, inspects and ingresses cockpit. Grissom in spacesuit and helmet enters water tank and ingresses capsule; capsule floating in water as Grissom emerges from top, lowers life raft into water and tries to exit into raft. Astronauts Alan Shepard and Walter Schirra talks to Grissom in spacesuit on barge; Grissom ingresses capsule and capsule is lowered into water. Grissom removes helmet and talks with personnel on barge. Shepard, Grissom and Donald Slayton playing handball. Shepard, in helmet, during centrifuge training. Shepard walks to and enters MASTIF. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps in c. 1905, served in the Philippines, Haiti, France during World War I, and the Pacific Theater in World War II. Rear Admiral Alan Bartlett Shepard Jr. (November 18, 1923 – July 21, 1998) was an American astronaut, naval aviator, test pilot, and businessman. In 1961, he became the first American to travel into space, and in 1971, he walked on the Moon.
